Real Sydney lawns

Good preparation makes the difference

A new lawn is only as good as the ground beneath it.

Before turf arrives, we work out what needs to be removed, how soil and turf will reach the yard, and how the new lawn should meet paths, drains and garden edges. Preparing these details properly gives the turf an even foundation from the beginning.

Find a turf that suits your yard and household.

Understanding your quote

Why turf installation quotes can vary.

Lawn size is important, but what needs to be removed, how we reach the yard and the amount of preparation can make just as much difference.

  1. What needs to be removed

Old turf, weeds, hard soil, rubble and building material can all add to the preparation.

  2. Getting materials to the yard

Gate width, stairs, tight turns and distance from the street affect how soil and turf are moved.

  3. Paths, drains and garden edges

The new lawn needs to meet the surfaces around it neatly and at a practical height.

  4. Lawn size and turf choice

The measured area and selected turf determine how much material needs to be supplied.

View all FAQs
What does a complete turf installation include?

A complete installation can include removing the old lawn, preparing and levelling the soil, supplying fresh turf, laying it and watering it in. We also explain how to look after the new lawn during the first few weeks.

Can new turf be laid over the old lawn?

No. New turf needs close contact with prepared soil. Old grass, weeds, roots and uneven material should be dealt with first so the new lawn has a sound base.

How is the right turf selected?

We look at how much sun the lawn receives, how it will be used, whether children or pets are involved and how much upkeep you prefer. Those details help narrow down suitable natural turf options.

What information helps with a turf quote?

Your suburb, an approximate lawn size and a few photos are a helpful start. Please also show how we would reach the yard and tell us whether the area is bare, weedy or covered by an existing lawn.
