Residential turfing

Turfing North Shore

We prepare and install natural turf for North Shore homes, including shaded yards, sloping blocks and established gardens.

Planning around your yard

Shade and slopes need a closer look

Trees, buildings, rock and changing heights can affect different parts of the same yard. We look at the actual sunlight and ground before recommending turf.

North Shore yards range from compact courtyards to larger blocks with established trees and changing ground heights. Shade, roots, rock and slopes can all affect how much lawn is practical and how the soil should be prepared.

Shade from trees and buildings

We look at how many hours of direct light reach different parts of the lawn.

Rock and slopes

Shallow soil, rock and changing heights can affect preparation and where water runs.

Established roots

Visible roots and important trees need to be considered before the turf area is agreed.

Steep or narrow access

The route into the yard can change how fresh soil and turf are moved.

When to check with council+

Straightforward lawn preparation and laying may not need council involvement. Check the current local guidance if the wider project changes drainage, retaining walls, protected trees, the verge or the ground height significantly.

Common questions

What turf suits a shaded North Shore yard?

It depends on how much direct light the lawn actually receives, along with the soil, watering and regular foot traffic. No natural turf will thrive if the area is too dark.

Can turf be laid on a sloping block?

Often, yes. The ground needs to be stable and prepared so the turf sits firmly. Larger retaining or drainage work may need to be completed first.

How are established trees handled?

We consider the shade and visible roots when planning the lawn. Tree work or major changes around roots are not automatically included in turfing.
