Residential turfing
Turfing Inner West
We prepare and install natural turf for Inner West courtyards, side yards, front gardens and residential backyards.

How we can help
Complete turfing for compact Inner West yards
We prepare, supply and lay natural turf for courtyards, side lawns, front gardens and backyards. Small areas receive the same careful ground preparation as larger lawns.

Planning around your yard
Make the most of every part of the yard
Narrow access, paving, doorways and drains can matter more than the overall lawn size. We look at the route, surrounding edges and ground before quoting.
Inner West lawns are often compact and surrounded by paving, brick walls, garden beds or the home itself. Rear yards may be reached through a narrow side passage or laneway, so the route in can be just as important as the size of the lawn.
Narrow access
Laneways, side passages and stairs affect how old material, soil and turf can reach the lawn.
Compact lawn shapes
Careful measuring and edge work help the turf fit neatly around paths, walls and existing structures.
Drains and low spots
We look at where water currently goes before changing the shape of the ground.
Walls, paving and doorways
Compact yards leave little room for the new lawn to sit too high or too low.

What we look at
Start with the lawn and the way into it
We measure the lawn and access route, look at the surrounding surfaces and make sure natural turf is practical for the space.
The way into the yard
We look at gates, stairs and side passages, along with the shape of the lawn and nearby paths or gardens.
Sunlight and soil
We check how the sunlight changes, what is growing there now and what the ground is like underneath.
Preparation and turf choice
We explain what preparation may be needed and which turf options are worth considering for the household.

When to check with council+
Straightforward lawn preparation and laying may not need council involvement. Check the current local guidance if the wider project changes drainage, retaining walls, protected trees, the verge or the ground height significantly.

Common questions
Can Sydney Turfing quote a small Inner West lawn?
Yes. Small lawns still need access, removal and ground preparation considered properly. Photos of the yard and the way in are a helpful start.
Does limited access change the price?
It can. Old material needs to come out and fresh soil and turf need to come in, so a long or narrow route may add handling time.
Can turf be installed beside old paving or brickwork?
Yes. We prepare the soil so the turf meets the hard surface neatly and does not create an obvious low or high edge.
